What should I do before my spray tan?

  1. Exfoliate Your Skin
    • When: Exfoliate 24–48 hours before your spray tan (not right before).
    • Why: Exfoliating removes dead skin cells and helps the tan go on evenly.
    • How: Use a gentle exfoliating scrub or mitt, focusing on areas like elbows, knees, and feet where dry skin can absorb more product and create darker patches.
  2. Shave or Wax (if needed)
    • When: Shave or wax at least 24 hours before your spray tan to avoid irritation. (Bikini waxing is fine on the same day, but we don’t recommend leg or eyebrow waxing on the day of your spray tan.)
    • Why: Shaving or waxing immediately before your spray tan can cause irritation or open pores, affecting the final look.
  3. Cleanse Your Skin
    • Before Your Appointment: Take a shower and thoroughly cleanse your skin to remove any lotions, oils, deodorants, or makeup, as these can create barriers and prevent even absorption of the tan.
  4. Avoid Moisturizing and Oils
    • Why: Moisturizers, oils, and heavy creams can create a barrier that prevents the spray tan from adhering evenly.
    • When: Apply moisturizers only after the tan has fully developed, typically 8–12 hours post-application.
  5. Wear Loose, Dark Clothing
    • Why: Loose-fitting, dark clothes help prevent tan transfer onto your clothing and allow your skin to breathe while the tan develops. Avoid tight clothing, especially bras and shoes, as they can rub off the tan.
  6. Remove Any Jewelry
    • Why: Remove all jewelry (rings, bracelets, watches) to avoid tan lines or uneven patches.

By following these steps, you’ll ensure a smooth, long-lasting spray tan with minimal streaking or patchiness.

How long does the spray tan last?

Our spray tans typically last between 1–2 weeks, but several factors can influence how long it stays vibrant:

  1. Skin Type: Dry skin may cause the tan to fade faster, as it sheds more quickly. Oily skin may also lead to quicker fading.
  2. Aftercare: Proper aftercare plays a big role in longevity. Avoid excessive sweating, long hot showers, exfoliating too often, or using harsh soaps to preserve the tan.
  3. Shaving and Exfoliating: These activities can speed up the fading process by removing layers of dead skin, including the layer holding the tan.
  4. Moisturizing: Keeping your skin well-hydrated helps maintain your tan, as moisturized skin holds the color longer.

To maximize the life of your tan, moisturize daily and avoid activities that may cause excessive sweating or exfoliation.

When can I shower after my spray tan?

  • Anti-Aging or Hawaiian Spray Tan: Wait at least 6–8 hours before showering. Leaving the tan on longer (or overnight) will result in a deeper color.
  • Rapid Tan:
    • 4–5 hours: Lighter, warm, and natural glow.
    • 6–7 hours: Medium color.
    • 8+ hours: Darker, sun-kissed look.

What should I wear to my spray tan appointment?

Wear loose, dark clothing to prevent staining your clothes and avoid feeling restricted while your tan develops. Tight clothing (especially bras and shoes) can rub off the tan.

Is it safe to get a spray tan if I’m pregnant or breastfeeding?

Yes! Our airbrush spray tan solutions are paraben-free and made with organic, natural ingredients to keep you and your baby safe. However, we always recommend consulting your healthcare provider if you have any specific concerns.
