SCOTT RAPP, MD

Board-certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery and licensed to practice medicine in California, Kentucky, and Ohio, Dr. Rapp is a graduate of Northeastern Ohio Universities College of Medicine.

Following his residency at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center—where he won five research and academic achievement awards—he received a fellowship at Stanford Medical Center.

An active participant in science research at Stanford Hospital Medical Center and Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Center, he is the coauthor of eight peer-reviewed papers, and is in demand as a presenter at medical conferences across the US and internationally.

Dr. Rapp also performs volunteer mission work at the William Solar Children’s Hospital in Havana, Cuba, and is a former professional soccer player.

About the collection of fillers

How does it work?

Most treatments require only 1 to 2 treatment sessions. The number of treatments will vary based on your condition.

Will I look overdone?

BOTOX® Cosmetic is a technique- sensitive treatment. You should not lose the ability to show expression when you are treated by someone who is licensed, trained, and a medical expert in facial anatomy. It is important to talk to your provider about the results you want from treatment.

Does the treatment hurt?

Some patients report that being injected with BOTOX® Cosmetic feels like a pinch. Your provider may use ice to numb the treatment area. If you are concerned about discomfort, your provider may apply a topical numbing cream before administering your treatment.

How long does treatment take?

The treatment takes approximately 10 minutes and requires minimal downtime or recovery—it’s often called a lunchtime procedure.

What were common side effects seen in clinical studies?

Three percent of patients experienced eyelid drooping in the frown lines studies and 1% of patients experienced eyelid swelling in the crow’s feet studies. Other possible side effects include: discomfort or pain at the injection site; headache; and eye problems: double vision, blurred vision, drooping eyelids, and swelling of your eyelids. These are not all of the possible serious side effects of BOTOX® Cosmetic.

Laser and other energy-based hair removal requires multiple treatments because hair grows in different phases. Hair can take 6-12 weeks for it to grow from root to surface—this growth stage is known as the anagen stage and this is the perfect time to receive laser hair removal. You know when you are due for your next treatment session when hair in the treated area begins to grow back. It is very important to stick with the treatment schedule that your practitioners suggests—missing a treatment could allow your hair to enter the next stage where hair begins to detach from the hair follicle which can increase the number of treatments originally required.

Vascular Treatments

Sunspots

Solar Lentigenes or ‘sun spots’ result from excessive exposure to ultraviolet (UV) radiation. Common to people frequently outdoors or over the age of 40, sun spots result from a proliferation of melanocytes and subsequent melanin production near the surface of the skin. While most are benign or do not lead to cancer, it is important that a medical professional examines the lesions prior to treatment to ensure safety of intervention. The Excel laser offers the advantage of improving skin tone and surface imperfections associated with aging and photodamage.

HOW MANY TREATMENTS ARE REQUIRED?

Most treatments require only 1 to 2 treatment sessions. The number of treatments will vary based on your condition.

IS THE TREATMENT PAINFUL?

Excel treatments can feel similar to a rubber band snapping against skin. Depending on the procedure, a cooled treatment tip will be in contact with the skin to protect and provide comfort to the area. A topical anesthetic may be available from your provider to improve your treatment experience.

ARE THERE ANY SIDE EFFECTS? AND DOWNTIME?

Redness and/or swelling can be expected following treatment and will resolve within a few days. Treated brown spots will darken and slough off within 3 to 6 days. For full face treatments, swelling will peak 24 to 48 hours post treatment and usually resolves within a few days. Typically, you can wear make-up and return to normal activities immediately. Your provider may recommend a topical steroid to reduce swelling as needed.

Acne Treatment

Excel HR utilizes two different wavelengths to help stimulate collagen formation. This may be beneficial to pitting from Acne scarring or other contour defects from trauma or other soft tissue injury.
